This course discusses ways that employees and external parties perpetrate computer fraud. The computer fraud techniques are categorized as computer attacks, social engineering, and malware. Within each category, the computer fraud techniques are described, and instances of their use are related.

The middle part of the course discusses the control frameworks that are used to protect against computer fraud and abuse. The frameworks discussed are COSO-Integrate Internal Control framework, COSO – Enterprise Risk Management framework, and the Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (COBIT).

The last part of the course describes how companies can keep would-be computer fraudsters from perpetrating computer fraud. This section is divided into four sections: make fraud less likely to occur, increase the difficulty of committing fraud, improve detection methods, and reduce or recover from fraud losses.

Many examples are included to illustrate the computer fraud techniques. The course also contains several longer case studies.
